SMALLESTHORSE GROUP GELDING INCENTIVE PROGRAM

PURPOSE

The purpose of the SHG Gelding Incentive Program is to encourage the gelding and exhibition of quality 30” geldings and for members to geld all but the very best stallions and colts, thereby improving the overall quality of the American Miniature Horse.

ELIGIBILITY

All SHG members in good standing may enter a gelding that meets his height and age requirements for being shown in the below listed classifications.

Nomination procedure

An annual nominating fee of $10.00 will be charged for each gelding entered. A separate form is required for each gelding nominated. Nominations, including appropriate fee, must be received no later than January 30th of the year of nomination.  Nomination forms are to be sent to Gelding Incentive Chairman at the address on the form.

The nominating fee is subject to change by a vote of the SHG membership.

INAUGURAL PROGRAM

As there is insufficient time to have nominated geldings for the 2007 show season, all geldings who meet their height/age requirements shall be considered qualified to participate in the inaugural 2007 Gelding Incentive Program and nomination forms/fees will be due no later than March 30, 2007. 

Classifications:

Gelding incentive awards will be given in the following three categories:

1)      Junior gelding halter and performance

Weanling & yearling height maximum of 28”

Two year olds height maximum 29”

2)      Senior gelding halter (3 years and older - 30” and under)

3)      Senior gelding performance (3 years and older  - 30” and under)

POINTS

1. Points shall be earned by any nominated horse placing at any local, open and/or breed shows, to include, but not limited to, recognized AMHA and AMHR shows, State Fairs, Livestock Expositions and Pinto Horse Association shows. 

2.  Points shall be based on total entries in each class, with the winning horse receiving the same number of points as horses entered in each class, not to exceed 10 points in any one class.  Subsequent placing will receive one point less than the horse placing above it.  For example:

Championships will receive 10 points and Reserves 5 points.

Only those points earned as a gelding will count. Halter and performance points will be combined for junior geldings due to the limited number of performance categories open to junior horses.

END OF YEAR TABULATION

1.  ALL results MUST be submitted to the Committee by no later than December 31st of the year of nomination/competition.  The Committee will tabulate the results and post the Top Ten placings on the SmallestHorse Group website in each of the divisions based on the highest point earners.

2.  The horse earning the most points in each class shall be declared the Gelding Incentive Division Champion and shall receive a rosette, plaque or trophy, and a cash award.  The horse earning the second highest number of points shall be declared the GI Division Reserve Champion and receive a rosette, plaque or trophy and cash award.  Horses placing 3rd through 10th shall receive a rosette and cash award.

IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EXHIBITOR OR BREEDER

TO ADVISE THE COMMITTEE , EITHER IN WRITING OR BY EMAIL,

OF ANY PLACINGS THE HORSE RECEIVES AT ANY SHOW,

WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THAT PLACING.

FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN THE HORSE’S POINTS

NOT BEING INCLUDED IN THE YEAR-END TABULATION.

Awards

Awards will be purchased by the Executive Committee. After that expense has been deducted, the remaining balance will be divided among the winners. Awards will be presented to first and second place in the categories outlined above. There is neither a minimum nor maximum cash award set. Sixty percent of money left over after purchase of awards will be divided evenly among the three first place winners. Twenty five percent will be divided evenly among the three second place winners, and fifteen percent will be divided evenly among the three third place winners

The Gelding Incentive Hi Point Champion and Reserve winners and their owners shall be included in one SHG advertisement in each breed publication containing such an ad and placings through Top Ten will be published on the SmallestHorse Group website and

Funding:

The Gelding Incentive Program will be funded by nomination fees and donations from the membership and outside sponsorships.
